Special days aren’t always birthdays and anniversaries.

They can be any day.

Like

Watching your brother play with children two years younger than he, knowing that you should be there with him.

Watching your baby sister laugh, roll and play because they are things that you did not get to do.

Preparing for Christmas and buying lots of presents to fill the tree,

And finding empty places where yours should be

Special days are any days

Like getting a family portrait taken

or

Going on a picnic or going to the zoo.

These are days when there should be five of us not four.

Like watching the joy your brother gets from his new baby sister

And remembering what he was like with you

Or when he plays and talks to you as if you are there with him

Or telling your new sister about the brother she never got to know
